Chroma Key Backgrounds
Chroma Key Background common problems:
Some common problems of Chroma Key are, uneven background lighting and reflected spill on the foreground subject. Choose either a blue or green screen depending on the colors your subject is wearing.
Follow these steps to help correct those problems.
Light The Chroma Key Background:
When lighting a chroma key background, you want the lighting on the background to be as even as possible, with no shadows. Your background lights should be behind the foreground subject.
Light The Foreground Subject:
You will want to light the subject with their own set of lights. You want as much separation between the foreground subject and the chroma key background as possible, at least 4 or 5 feet.
The more separation you have between the foreground subject and the chroma key background, the better. This reduces the chance of the foreground shadows hitting the chroma key background. Adjust your lighting to reduce the fall of foreground shadows. It will help minimize the "blue or green spill" from light that is reflected off the chroma key background.
If you take the time to light your foreground and chroma key background correctly, blue or green spill on the subject will be minimized.
